On a planet on the far edge of the Milky Way galaxy, a small child sat in high grass. Next to her, a very old man dressed in a orange robe sat next to her. They were both meditating. They both opened their eyes at the same time.

‘Her role isn’t completed yet,’ the child remarked.

‘How can you tell, young one?’ the old man asked.

‘I can feel it,’ she answered.

The old man stroked his long stringy goat’s beard. ‘Very good. Very good. What did the past of your lineage show you?’

‘That I must never let others abuse the Eyes of the Seer,’ the child firmly stated.

‘Indeed,’ the old man replied. ‘That is why you were brought to us by the preacher; to teach you how to use your sight, and more importantly; how to use it responsibly like we teach others with a simular gift.’

‘But others will seek me out.’

The old man nodded. ‘This can not be helped. But as you learn more about your powers, you will see past the mysts that cloud your destiny.’

‘She will protect me,’ the child smiled. ‘I know she will. Even if she doesn’t know who I am.’

The old man smiled kindly, joyfull sparks of pride flickering in the iris of his eyes. ‘She will. The Last Lady has planned ahead in the most impressive manner. She was the most powerful of all the Seers because she was the most determined. Soon we will know more, as future events begin to unfold.’ With a mild sigh he got up. ‘Now, let’s get back to the monestery. It is almost suppertime.’

The child also got up. ‘I hope we have corn-peas. I like corn-peas,’ she cheered. ‘Will you tell me a story before I go to bed?’

The old man laughed. ‘Isn’t it your mother’s turn today?’

‘It is,’ the child confirmed. ‘But she won’t mind.’

‘If she doesn’t mind, I will, little one. Now let’s get a move on before the food gets cold.’

And so the child, accompanied by the old man, hurried back to the monestery that had been her, and her parents’ home ever since a priest called McDougan found them, and brought them there.
